About Hua Hin, Thailand

Thailand is a Southeast Asian country which is well- known for so many beautiful beaches, stunning mountains and appetizing street food.

Hua Hin is a seaside city in the South of Thailand. A lot of tourist especially Westerners visit for beaches, shopping, relaxing. Hua Hin as well as many other cities in Thailand being famed for many kinds of massage such as food massage, traditional massage, oil massage, so on. Thai massage is considered as a must-try when you visit Thailand.

Transportation

There are several ways to travel from Bangkok to Hua Hin.

Mini Van: Mini Van transport is very common in Thailand, it is one of the fastest way to travel from Don Mueang Airport (DMK) to Hua Hin. You can catch taxi (around 40 minutes – 270 Baht) to the bus station and easily buy Van tickets there to Hua Hin, around 180 baht/ ticket.

The Van can drop you at the bus stop along the street. So follow the googlemap and ask the Van to stop you near your hotel. It takes about 3 hours from Bangkok to Hua Hin.

Bus: Bus tickets can be booked over the counters at bus station or you can also buy online in advance. You can easily search online bus ticket from Bangkok to Hua Hin. If you arrive at (BKK) Suvarnabhumi Airport, you can get a direct bus to Hua Hin. Bus from BKK to Hua Hin run every couple of hours. If you arrive at DMK, you have to travel to the nearest bus station.

Train: You can book ticket online here.

You also can travel by boat, private car or motorbike, find more information and booking here. Another easy way is book a cheap tour in Klook for your journey so that they can arrange everything, you just go and enjoy.

Where to stay

To fully explore the busy night of Hua Hin, you’d better choose a hotel which is close to Hua Hin night market. You should book hotel/guesthouse in advance through Agoda Booking.

I booked Mod Guesthouse which is walking distance to night market. The price is quite okay, I stayed 2 nights for 1710 baht ( 2017). The room is nice with an air-conditioner, a TV and a pretty clean toilet. There is the brilliant balcony with beautiful beach view. Even the guesthouse is in the center of Hua Hin, it is pretty quiet and peaceful there. At night, you can hear the relaxing sound of wave crashing on under your room.

Motorbike rental is available in Mod Guesthouse, 280 baht /1 day.

What to eat

You can easily find a delicious local restaurant there. Hua Hin is famous for fresh seafood with cheap price. The first day in Hua Hin, we enjoyed our morning in a small and very nice restaurant which is opposite the railway station. It looks like a mini book store with many different languages around the world.

At night, you can go shopping at the night market and enjoy variety of great food there. There are many seafood restaurant with big lobsters that you have to try.

We tried 2 small lobster about 600 baht. And my favorite food is papaya salad <3.

This is my list of top 5 food in Hua Hin:

  • Papaya spicy salad
  • Som Tam Pu Ma (Spicy Blue Crab Papaya Salad)
  • Tom Yam Goong (Spicy Shrimp Soup)
  • Khao Pad (Fried Rice)
  • Pad Thai (Thai style Fried Noodles)

Visit Hua Hin Railway station

Railway station which was built in the 1920s, is one of the oldest station in Thailand. Its main feature is the Royal Waiting Room which was used by Thai Royals when they visited the city and Maruekhathaiyawan Palace. Hua Hin railway station attracts a lot of tourists by its history and its walking distance from the heart of Hua Hin. The brightly red wooden color makes it unique and brings the vintage feeling for visitors.

Plernwan shopping village

Location: Phetkasem Road (between Hua Hin Sois 38 and 40), close to Klai Kang Won Palace

Plernwan is Thailand’s first Eco Vintage Village. It is well-known as a shopping and delightful dining spot for visitors and travellers. Plern Wan’s two-storey courtyard-style building attracts tourists with a lot of interesting souvenir stores and plenty of different Thai food style restaurants. Plernwan is decorated in old style with wooden and looks quite unique which captures Thai’s life in 1950’s. The place is usually crowded at night because it will offer live music show and β€˜nang klang plaeng’ (open-air movies), it is more colorful and romantic at night as well.

Hua Hin night market

Operating time: daily from 18.00 – 23.00

It is a pretty typical Thai night market, as I see it is a very good one with great seafood and others excellent kinds of Thai street food with around 50-90 Baht/plate. If you are in Hua Hin, it is a definite a must-visit spot.

You can find almost everything there, from Thai T-shirt, Hua Hin shirt, necklace, jewelry, crafts, beachwear, key ring, Buddhist tokens, souvenirs to travel luggage, bag..so on. You will also find countless of outlets and stands selling delicious fresh food which can be served within a matter of minutes.

Venezia Hua Hin – Cha Am

The Venezia Opening Hours: Mon – Sun 10:00 – 23:30

Location: 1899 Petch Kasem Rd. (Sai Tai), Cha Am, Petchburi 76120

The Venezia Hua Hin is obviously Venice lifestyle with a plenty of shopping stores and so many interesting and enjoyable activities or spots such as garden and mini zoo, 3D Art Gallery, kiddy land, carousel, King and Queen custom photos, mini train, so on.

There are 2 options for you when buying entry tickets.

– Package A: 180 baht, including 3D Art Gallery, Mini train ride, Sheep farm, King and Queen photo, Pontana Di Trevi park.

– Package B: 380 baht, including package A and Gondola ride, Western Horse carriage, Upside down house, Music garden.

Besides, there are a number of restaurants which I think they only open at night. If you visit in the morning, nearly 80% of shops are closed, no restaurants are opened, it is a bit quiet and not as busy, massive as nightlife there. Thus, considering to visit it at nighttime.

Hua Hin looks beautiful. Whenever I plan to visit Thailand, I’ll add Hua Hin to my itinerary. Venezia Hua Hin sounds like a great place to visit with kids. And loved the picture of umbrella street πŸ™‚
