⚠️⚠️⚠️NOTE: BUKIT TABUR IS RESTRICTED NOW (UPDATED 2021)

Hiking Bukit Tabur – What you need to know before the trip

Location: Bukit Tabur( Tabur Hill) Taman Melawati, 30 minutes drive from KL Sentral.

Transport: There is no public transport available to travel to the hiking spot so you can go by taxi or drive.

Best time to climb: from 7A.M- 8A.M, if you want to watch sunrise, you may start sooner around 5.30 A.M

Height: the Far East peak: 375m, The East peak: 275m, The West peak: 446m, The Extreme peak: 396m, , you can try many peaks at the same day to challenge your stamina and endurance, and the fabulous view of Klang Gate Dam is worth your effort, believe me!

Highlights: It’s a difficult trail, thus you should wear comfortable clothes, bring enough water, some snacks, a camera to capture fabulous views from the top, and don’t forget to bring with you a steady head and a strong heart.

Hiking duration: depends on how experienced and fast you are, for each trail it may takes about 1.30 – 2.30 hours to reach.

Trails: there are 2 main trails in Bukit Tabur, West trail and East trail, besides there are far East, Extreme, Extra trail. There are some rock cliffs in the trails where the hikers have to hold the ropes, use both hands and legs to climb up. However, the top of the mountains always offer the panoramic view of the Klang Gates Dam and the city; if you are really into trekking, these trails will definitely satisfy you.

My one day trip trekking to Bukit Tabur

We started our trip around 8 A.M in the morning. After the Grab driver dropped us near the mountain, we walked about 15 minutes to the entrance. Unlike most of the mountains or waterfalls in Malaysia, you do not have to pay entrance fee for your trekking trip and actually, there are many entrance points that you can try. For the warm-up stage, you can easily trek to the grass hill where you can enjoy the fabulous view of the city.

We trekked 2 trails: the Far East and the Extreme, to me the Far East trail offers the most beautiful lake view, the view would be more unimaginable in the sunrise or sunset. This trail is quite easy even some parts could be dangerous with straight cliffs . After trekking to the Far East peak we keep trekking to the Extreme, the most interesting thing in the Extreme trail is that you can find a lot of motivation quotes along the trail which definitely inspire you. There is a straight cliff on the way to the Extreme peak which is really scary and challenging but believe me, when you finally conquer it, the feeling is great.

Bukit Tabur is one of the dangerous trails in Kuala Lumpur that sometimes the authority temporarily close the trail due to accidents. Thus, before your trip, check if the authority still allow to climb.

Bukit Tabur hill is less than 500 meters, but it is not easy to hike at all because of the sharp tone along the way up. There are some difficult straight up trails that you seriously need the help of ropes and you have to really take care of your every steps. Due to that difficulty, you sometimes feel like giving up and stop halfway on the trail, and you know what, those motivation quotes will definitely cheer you up.

The most interesting thing is that you will incidentally catch up a lot of inspirational quotes hung up in the middle of the trails. These quotes give you a big motivation to keep going and reach the top of Bukit Tabur.

Hope you have a wonderful hike which is filled with all best memories. 💝

  2. Be stronger than your excuse.
  3. I know it’s hurt but keep trying.
  4. You only fail when you stop trying.
  5. Don’t stop push harder.
  6. Remember why you started.
  7. Your only limit is you.
  8. I am slow walker but I never walk backwards.
  9. You will never see me quit.
  10. Only you can make it happen.
