FRIM : Forest Research Institute Malaysia, 52109 Kepong, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia. FRIM, founded in 1929, is one of the leading institute of natural forestry research in the world.

Opening hours: Monday – Friday: 8.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.

Entrance fee: there is a small entrance charge for entering the FRIM. (RM1/ person in 2018)

Transport: 30 minutes by cars from KL Sentral. By public transportation, you can take KTM to Kepong Sentaral Station (after Kepong station) and then take a taxi to the FRIM’s entrance.

Attractions: FRIM is more than just a jungle trekking, it caters the interesting outdoor activities and the adventurous trip as well. There are various activities that you can do in FRIM like camping, team-building activities, visiting Botanical Garden and Malaysian traditional houses, trekking to the nature rivers, waterfalls, walking over the canopy walkway, etc.

We decided to trek to the waterfalls, Sungai Kpoh and went further to the stream deep inside the jungle. From the entrance, you walk around 20 minutes to reach the small waterfall. On the way, you may pass some interesting spots like Malaysian traditional houses, team-building area, etc. The FRIM is usually crowded, especially at the weekend, so to avoid it, you would want to trek on weekdays or go deep inside the jungle and enjoy the picnic. We had a picnic right at the fall which is really fresh and pure.

FRIM is suitable for your run-away weekend, you can spend you day here for jogging, camping, riding a bike around, or simple for breathing the fresh air. It is also a perfect place for family gathering since it’s safe for kids. Renting a bike would be a great recommendation, the rental fee is RM10 or you can also book for a 60 -90 minutes eco-tour around FRIM. You can check out the FRIM official website for more information and activities in detail.

Check out others trekking spots in Kuala Lumpur: Kanching waterfall, Bukit Tabur, Bukit Gasing, Chilling waterfall, Chamang waterfall, Lepoh waterfall, Genting highland, etc.

Hope you have a great trip which is fulfilled with all sweet memories! 💞💞
